Polka Dot Parade #4 - Day 3

**Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Mom's out there!**

I'm back...phew! All I can say is thank Goodness for my husband, otherwise I would still be at a loss as to what my computer problem was! :) Thank you all for understanding my missing blog post yesterday and thank you for visiting my Facebook Page to see my projects.

This Papertrey Ink release is quite amazing, isn't it? I'm loving all of the new sets that are coming out. All of the new products you've been seeing, as well as my newest set...Polka Dot Parade #4, will be available starting the 15th on the Papertrey Ink website.

Are you ready for a few more baby cards?! I hope so...let's jump right in...

  45

I used the sweet teddy bear and it's coordinating die for this first card. After stamping her in Raspberry Fizz I adhered her to the front of my white cardstock. The bottom of my white cardstock was die cut using the Medium Scallop border die. My sentiment includes four separate words which allow you to create a variety of different sayings for your projects. Here are just a few other sentiments you can create using the words in this set...

  • sweet BABY
  • sweet little BABY
  • new BABY
  • welcome BABY
  • new little BABY
  • hello BABY
  • hello little BABY
  • hello new BABY

and more!!

49

I added a doily underneath and attached a strip of Sweet Blush ribbon, Lemon Tart dotted ribbon and a Lemon Tart button before attaching it all to my card front.

51

This mini 3x4 card features the stroller image from Polka Dot Parade #4 as well as images from a couple other sets of mine that were released awhile back. The sun and clouds are from the Heart-2-Heart #6 stamp set and die collection and the grass, flowers and sentiment are from Hanging Out.

41

Up next is another girly baby card. I started by die cutting a tag using the Tag Sale #1 die and then stamped the word 'BABY' down the front using Lemon Tart, Sweet Blush and Raspberry Fizz ink.

46

I die cut my bear and stamped her in Lemon Tart and then stamped her belly and paws in Raspberry Fizz. Love those separate belly and paw pieces!! I added stitching along the Raspberry Fizz strips using the Sew Simple Borders Mini stamp set. And lastly, I added a few layered flowers...the white and pink ones are by Prima and the yellow one was die cut out of Harvest Gold felt using the Heart-2-Heart #7 die.

That wraps up day three for me. Here are a few other stops for you that you will not want to miss...

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Introducing Polka Dot Parade #4 - Day 1

Hello everyone! It's been quite awhile since I've seen you all...welcome! I have been such a bad blogger lately but I am back for this months Papertrey Ink countdown and have been looking forward to sharing my newest stamp set with you. Polka Dot Parade #4 is this months set and it features the polka dot word 'BABY' and a few sweet baby images. Here are the details ...

Polka Dot Parade #4:

  • features 12 images
  • will retail for $5
  • will be available for purchase starting May 15th on the Papertrey Ink website
  • has coordinating dies

24

I used traditional baby colors for todays cards...Sweet Blush, Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist and Spring Moss. I started by stamping the teddy bear image (soooo love this little guy) across the bottom portion of my card using the colors I just mentioned. Next, I adhered a piece of Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper across the top and a strip of Aqua Mist ribbon. I then die cut the frame image from the My Mother, My Friend die collection and stamped my sentiment. There are a variety of different sentiments you will be able to create with this little set. I'll be showing you more of those over the next four days. To finish my first card off I die cut a couple of flowers using the Heart-2-Heart #7 die collection and stamped each one with thier coordinating Heart-2-Heart #7 stamp set. I adhered those to either side of my frame and then added Lemon Tart buttons to their centers.

22

Lots and lots of polka dots for you on card #2. I started with my white cardstock and stamped 'BABY' multiple times down the front using the same colors as on card #1. Above 'BABY' I stamped the word 'sweet'...included in the PDP #4 set. Next, I die cut a scalloped border using the medium scallop border die. That was stamped using the Polka Dot Basics stamp set and then adhered across my card front. I added a strip of pink rick rack and crocheted flowers that I had on hand and a couple of strips of Lemon Tart Satin Dot ribbon to complete it.

That is all I have for today but both Nichole and Betsy will be sharing projects with you using this new set. You won't want to miss it!

Also, these ladies have lots to share as well...

  • Heather Nichols
  • Dawn McVey
  • Maile Belles

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit with me today. Hope to see you right back here tomorrow. Until then, I hope you all have a wonderful, happy day!

Polka Dot Parade #3 - Day 4

Happy Saturday! I'm back with a fun retro card to share with you today using the new Polka Dot Parade set.

*Polka Dot Parade #3 along with all of the other new products will be available for purchase starting April 15th on the Papertrey Ink website.*

 10

I've mixed a few sets up with the PDP #3 set to create this card. I cut 6 - 1/2" strips of cardstock out of the following colors...Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores and Plum Pudding. I adhered those on the front of my card to create my 'rainbow' effect. Next, I stamped RELAX in Smokey Shadow and 'It's your day!' just below it in the same color. 'Love' is from Heart-2-Heart #11 and so is the heart inside the tv. I die cut my tv using the coordinating die collection and then stamped it using Simply Chartreuse ink. To finish my card off I added a strip of glitter along the top and voila!!

I love all of the positive feedback I've been getting about this little $5 set. Makes me happy, happy, happy! :) Thanks everyone! I hope you all have a fabulous day...thanks again for stopping in!

~Melissa

Background Basics: Birthday Fun & Polka Dot Parade #2 - Day 2

 11

Hello again! Welcome back for day 2 of the Papertrey Ink March countdown. I have a lot more polka dots for you today using the new Polka Dot Parade set as well as a birthday card featuring the new Background Basics: Birthday Fun set.

**Both of these new sets will be available starting March 15th on the Papertrey Ink website.**

The colors I chose to work with today are Pure Poppy, Simply Chartreuse, Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart and Sweet Blush. Each card measures 3.5 x 5.

1

Up first are a few cards using the Polka Dot Parade #2 set. I used the Spiral Notebook Page die on each of these cards. I stamped 'HELLO' in each of the colors I mentioned above and then added 'Sending you a happy' just above them. I added a fabric flower that I made and a Berry Sorbet button to finish it off.

3

Using the same layout on this card I started by stamping my flower stems in Simply Chartreuse and then moved onto stamping my flowers. I added my 'Hello' using Pure Poppy ink and then added a Sweet Blush button.

7

For this next card I mixed the newest Polka Dot Parade set with Polka Dot Parade #1, that was released last month. One of the things I know I am going to enjoy about these sets is the fact that they will all coordinate with one another! Gotta love that! My bunny was stamped in Berry Sorbet and then I stamped my flower stems on either side of her. After stamping my flowers I added a bit of grass from the Hanging out set. Again, I finished it off by adding a button.

9

And last but not least for today is a card created using the new background set...Background Basics: Birthday Fun. The bottom portion of my card was stamped using the birthday words background. Above that I added a strip of Simply Chartruese cardstock that was die cut using the medium scalloped border die. Using the same trio of presents I used on my card yesterday I stamped one above the other and then added 'happy birthday' from Make A Wish.

That's a wrap for day 2. I hope you have enjoyed what I've shared today. You can see more projects using this months new products from these ladies...

My Mother, My Friend & Polka Dot Parade #1 - Day 4

Happy Wednesday! Day 4 of the Papertrey Ink countdown is upon us and I have a few more cards for you using both of my new sets...My Mother, My Friend and Polka Dot Parade #1. I want to thank each of you for visiting everyday...your positive comments and e-mails mean so much to me! A lot of you have sent sweet notes about how my cards make you 'smile'....THAT makes me extremely happy. If I can put a smile on your face then my day is perfect. :)

Let's get to our projects for the day, shall we!? The cards I'm sharing with you today are ones that I created when I was creating my projects for day 1. So if you are wondering WHY more cards with the same colors...that is why! :) **It has nothing at all to do with that fact that I am completely addicted to using these colors all together...nope, nothing at all!**

2

I'm keeping my first few cards pretty clean and simple...no layering or extra embellishments, which was a nice change for me. I am loving the solid frames in this set.  I started with a basic piece of white cardstock (4" x 5.25) and then started stamping my frames. One of the nice things about these frame images is that they nestle perfectly together...kinda like a puzzle piece. Those were stamped in Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy and Summer Sunrise. I then used the long vine image and stamped on both sides of my frames in Simply Chartreuse. For a last touch I added a little bird, from Tweet Talk, and my sentiment, from Flower Fusion #2.

4

Next up is a Happy Birthday card for Mom. For this one I used both the long and short vine included in My Mother, My Friend. In between stamping the vines I stamped the three different sized flowers and also stamped a few tiny flowers.

3

'Happy Birthday' is from Think Big Favorites #12.

6

More colorful and cheery flowers on this Mother's Day card. I first stamped my sentiment and then stamped my flowers above. The leaves are from Heart-2-Heart #7.

5

A bit of rustic twine and a Hawaiian Shores button complete this.

7

And up last for today is a sweet bunny card featuring the little bunny from Polka Dot Parade #1. I started by stamping my bunnies across my white cardstock and then stamped the grass image from Hanging Out underneath them. The little flowers you see are from the set as well.

10

The bunny tails were die cut using the coordinating die collection and then adhered with dimensional adhesive. Lastly, I added a couple of doilies and a cute red gingham bow.

Just one more day to go until the sets can be seen in full but until then there is still more to see today from the rest of the PTI gang...

  • Dawn McVey
  • Lizzie Jones
  • Maile Belles
  • Heather Nichols

Enjoy your day!

~Melissa

Introducing My Mother, My Friend & Polka Dot Parade #1

Hello, friends! Here we are on day one of the release countdown and I am kicking off this new Papertrey Ink year with two new stamp sets from MelissaJ Designs. I'm very excited about these new sets and even more excited that I get to share this new year with all of you. I have a set that is geared towards our wonderful Mothers & Friends....My Mother, My Friend and also a brand new series that I just adore...Polka Dot Parade.

Up first is My Mother, My friend:

  • features 24 images - 1 large frame, 3 sentiment frames, 11 sentiments, 5 flowers, 3 background strips
  • will retail for $24
  • will be available for purchase starting February 15th on the Papertrey Ink website
  • has coordinating dies

My Mother, My Friend dies

There are 6 dies in the collection...2 frames, a vine and 3 flowers.

Colorcombo37

Since I loved the color combo of my anniversary image so much I thought that I would start this countdown using those same colors!! :)

Mmmf 3

You'll notice above that I mentioned there are 3 different background image strips in this set. For today, I used the tiny flower image to create a colorful background for my projects. I used Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist.

Mmmf3

After stamping my sheet I cut them into one inch strips.

My Mother, My Friend - PTI February release6

And here you'll notice that I added one of those strips to the left side of my card. I also used that floral stamped sheet of cardstock to die cut the large frame. I die cut the smaller frame out of white cardstock and then stamp my 'Mother' frame in Pure Poppy. I also die cut one of the flowers and stamped the inside with the coordinating flower image.

My Mother, My friend - PTI February release - Melissa Bickford 3

The Chartreuse strip of cardstock was stamped with another one of the background strips. The strip reads 'gentle nuturing patient loving giving caring'. To finish it I added a bit of twine and leaves that were die cut with the Heart-2-Heart #7 die collection.

My Mother, My Friend - PTI February release - Melissa Bickford2

Next up I used one of the flower images to create a crisp and beautiful Mother's Day card. 'To a very special ___ on MOTHER'S DAY' and 'MOM' are separate images. I used Heart-2-Heart #7 again to stamp my leaves and then added a doily and Aqua Mist button to complete it.

My Mother, My Friend - PTI February release 4

My Beautiful Friend - February 2013 Papertrey Ink release

I created this card similar to the first card I shared using another one of the floral strips and die cutting a floral frame. 'My BEAUTIFUL' and 'FRIEND' are separate images. I added another doily, a strip of glitter, Aqua Mist buttons and more die cut leaves.

My Beautiful Friend - February 2013 Papertrey Ink release1

Up next is Polka Dot Parade #1:

  • features 10 images - 1 bunny, 2 flowers, 1 bunny tail, 6 mix & match sentiments including a large polka dot 'BUNNY'
  • will retail for $5

Hello love

Hope you are all doing well. It's been a few days since I've shared anything and thought I'd end the week with a little Valentine's card. February is here which means we are one step close to Valentine's Day and one step closer to spring! YEAH!

Hello Love - by Melissa Bickford

To begin I started by adhering a piece of Damask Designs patterned paper to the bottom portion of my card front. Next, I added a strip of Aqua Mist cardstock that was stamped with the row of hearts from Heart-2-Heart #11. For the flower, I started by die cutting two of the flowers from the Beautiful Blooms ll #1 die collection. I stamped the larger one using the Background Basics: Inspiration stamp set. Those flowers were layered together and then I added a circle to the center that was stamped with images from Heart-2-Heart #12. I used the Flower Fusion stem die as well as one of the leave images from Heart-2-Heart #7 for my flower stem. And last but not least...the sentiment. 'Hello' is from Heart-2-Heart #4 and 'Love' is from Heart-2-Heart #11.

I know... A LOT of different sets were used BUT that is what I love about these mini sets, like Flower Fusion and Heart-2-Heart, they can all be mixed together giving you soooo many possibilities when creating! :)

Don't forget that the Papertrey Ink anniversary festivities will be starting on Tuesday, February 5th. So many fun and exciting things will be happening...you won't want to miss it!

Have a wonderful day!

~Melissa

Happy Birthday Bloom

These cold temps we've been having make me want to do nothing but stay inside, drink warm tea and work in the studio! I know we've got a ways to go before the warmer temps hit but I am so ready. Ready for flip flops...gardening...the sandy beach...flowers blooming and so much more!

4

So since the flowers aren't blooming outside I thought I'd make them bloom inside! :) This card I have to share with you today was created with polka dot washi tape, the Button Card die and the Bloom Builders #3 die.

I first added my washi tape ( I purchased this at Target in the scrapbooking section ) around the edges of my card. Next, I added a piece of Berry Sorbet cardstock in the center. I stamped my Button Card using the images from the Button Boutique stamp set. My flower was die cut out of Sweet Blush cardstock and then attached to my button card. I added a Pure Poppy button and leaves that were die cut from the Sending You die collection and stamped with the Sending You stamp set. I also tucked a Peaceful Poinsettia leaf in there.

 4_4

The sentiment 'Happy Birthday' is from the stamp set Delightful Dahlia. Lastly, I added a row of pearls on either side of my card.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping in!

~Melissa

Keep smiling posies

Happy Friday everyone! I have a sweet button posie card to share with you all today!

Papertrey Ink - Keep Smiling Posies2 by Melissa Bickford

I started by covering my card base with a couple of different pieces of My Mind's Eye patterned paper. Next, I added my doily and my sentiment that was stamped on a Double Ended Banner die. I die cut a strip of hearts out of the Heart Border die and then attached it along the side of my card. For my flowers I die cut two of the flower stems from the Heart-2-Heart #12 die collection and then added two 'posies' that were die cut using the Buttoned Up #1 die collection. The button dies were stamped with a couple of images from the Button Up stamp set.

And that's all I have for you today! I'm hoping and planning on being a much better blogger than I have in the past. I have a really bad habit of only blogging during Papertrey Ink release time but I'm working on changing that. Hoping to liven things up a bit around here! :)

Thank you for stopping by...
