All of my cards today are pretty simple...nothing too girly or fancy. For card #1 I started with a piece of white cardstock and stamped one of the star images in the following colors...Melon Berry, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides and Spring Moss. The polka dot patterned paper along the bottom is from the Road Trip collection.

Ms_day5_4

The sentiment, from Military Hero, was stamped in Melon Berry onto a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock. I finished it off with a Classic Kraft Vintage button.

Ms_day5_5

Using the same paper collection, Road Trip, I created this card. 'I miss my soldier'...oh how I wish I would have had this set when my husband was deployed!

Ms_day5_6

Ms_day5_7

And wrapping up this countdown is this little number. I focused on this sentiment that is part of Military Hero and built my card around that. This sentiment could be used for sending to someone who lives far away and you miss...not necessarily just someone in the military.

Ms_day5_8

I used my EK Succes heart punch to make my hearts but you could also use the Heart Prints die collection to get a similar look. I used one of the small images in the Postmarks stamp set and stamped my Melon Berry and Ocean Tides hearts with it.

Before I wrap this up for today I wanted to leave you with a few links. These are just a few of the great resources out there for those of you wanting to donate, write, volunteer  and/or give your thanks to our men and women who serve or have served our great country!

Military Stars & Military Hero - Day 3

Welcome back everyone! I have two more cards for you today using both Military Stars and Military Hero. I'll have more projects to share using Heart-2-Heart #5 tomorrow.

**All of the new products you've been seeing will be available starting June 15th on the Papertrey Ink website.**

Ms_day3_1

Ms_day3_2

For card #1 I started with a Smokey Shadow card base. I stamped a piece of Ocean Tides cardstock using the Background Basics: Postmarks stamp set. After stamping it I ran it through my die machine with the medium size star die from the Seeing Stars collection. Next, I layered it over a piece of white cardstock and then stamped my star, from Military Stars, in the center. The sentiment is from Military Hero.

Ms_day3_4

I stamped the striped star image on the left side of card #2 and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I added a strip of Ocean Tides cardstock and then stamped one of the small star images along the side of it. My sentiment, also from Military Hero, was stamped in Pure Poppy ink and then to add the finishing touch I added a die cut star and button.

Keeping it short and sweet for today but these ladies all have more to share...

Military Stars & Military Hero - Day 2

Welcome back for day two of this months Papertrey Ink countdown. Today I will be focusing on my two new military stamp sets, Military Stars and Military Hero. I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your kind words and comments yesterday regarding these new sets as well as your well wishes and thanks to my husband. Your e-mails and comments mean so much and are truly appreciated by both of us!

I'll have more projects to share with you using Heart-2-Heart #5 later on in this weeks countdown but for now let's get started with today's post.

Ms_day2_17

First up for today are these star images from Military Stars. All of the images in this set have a bit of a distressed look to them. I started by stamping the circle image onto Vintage Cream cardstock and then punched each one out using my 1.75" circle punch. Next, I die cut 3 stars using the smallest Seeing Stars die and then stamped a different star inside each one.

Before we go much further I wanted to share a bit of info about the star images in this set. This was posted on Nichole's blog...

"The stars were designed with a rustic, distressed edge to give them a unique look, however, we realize that this look will not be applicable to all projects.  To make the stars as versatile as possible, they were designed to be just a hair larger than the smallest Seeing Stars die which omits the distressed edge.  If you would prefer to include the distressed edge when cutting these stars out, the Fiskars 2" X-large Star Punch works perfectly and can be found in the store here. We hope you enjoy these additional options and the design opportunities they provide."

For my projects today I have used the smallest Seeing Stars die so you will be able to visualize how they will look when stamped with the die.

Ms_day2_16

With the stamped stars above I created a set of 3 cards that would be perfect for sending to any service man or woman.

Ms_day2_15

On all three cards I scored two lined about 3/4 of the way down. In between those scor lines I stamped one of the small star images repeatedly across my card front. All of the sentiments on all three cards are from Military Hero. On this one, 'Thinking of you during your deployment.'

Ms_day2_14

'Across the miles on your birthday.'

Ms_day2_13

'To our military hero'

Ms_day2_12

Here is a CAS card that took no time to create and would be perfect for mass producing and sending to those far from home.

Ms_day2_19

I wanted to also show you that Military Stars has tons of versatility. It is geared towards our military but it also could be used for creating other cards as well. This card above is just one example. I stamped the circles across the front and then went back over and stamped a few different star images inside each one. 'Thank you' is from Think Big Favorites #15.

Ms_day2_20

And here is a simple birthday card using the star images as well as sentiments from Heart-2-Heart #5 and Heart-2-Heart #2.

Many of you have mentioned to me that you were excited about these new sets because you create cards for Operation Write Home. For those of you who don't know about this wonderful organization you can read all of the important information about it right HERE.

That wraps up day two for me. Nichole Heady and Heather Nichols will both be sharing projects with you today using Military Stars and Military Hero and Dawn McVey will be sharing projects using her new set as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Introducing Heart-2-Heart #5, Military Hero & Military Stars

Welcome everyone to the first day of the June Papertrey Ink countdown. I’m so glad you all could join me. This month I have three new sets to share with you, the fifth set in the Heart-2-Heart series and two sets that are geared towards supporting all of the men and women who serve in our armed forces.

First up for today...

H2h5_2

  • features 11 images - 4 flags, 1 flag line, 1 bow image, 1 small heart and 4 sentiments
  • will retail for $5
  • will be available for purchase starting June 15th on the Papertrey Ink website
  • has coordinating dies

H2h5_day1_1

Here is a shot of the flags that I die cut and stamped for my projects. The coordinating die has four flags in it so that you can die cut more than one at a time.

H2h5_day1_2

Here is a simple card to start with. I started with my Aqua Mist card base and then layered a piece of Stampers Select white over that. I stamped my flag line and the little bow on either side and then added my die cut flags. 'Celebrate' is one of the sentiments included in the set. That was stamped in black and then another one of the sentiments in the set was stamped just underneath it, 'It's your special day'. I created a matching tag using the Tag Sale Die #1.

 H2h5_day1_3

For this next card using Heart-2-Heart #5 I thought it would be fun to create a sun out of them. I started by punching out a piece of white cardstock using my 1.75 circle punch. Inside that I stamped one of the circle images from Borders & Corners {Circle} stamp set. The sentiment was stamped using two separate stamp sets....'hello' is from Heart-2-Heart #4 and 'Sunshine' is from Back Pocket Basics. I added all of my flags around my sentiment, a strip of washi tape and some ribbon to finish it off.

Up next are the two military stamp sets...

Mh

  • features 35 sentiments
  • will retail for $24
  • will be available for purchase starting June 15th on the Papertrey Ink website
  • all of my proceeds from this set will go to The Wounded Warrior Project

Ms

  • features 15 images - 11 patterned stars, 3 small stars, 1- 1.75" circle star image
  • will retail for $24
  • will be available for purchase starting June 15th on the Papertrey Ink website

I was so happy that these two sets were chosen for the 2012-2013 Papertrey Ink line up. Many of you may not know that we were a military family for a little over 15 years. My husband served in the army and we were fortunate enough to be stationed in some of the most beautiful locations… Germany, Alaska and TN. Unfortunately, during his second deployment
in Iraq he was injured severely and because of that his military career and our military life came to a screeching halt.

The Wounded Warrior Project is an amazing organization that helps our injured servicemen and women, including my husband, in a variety of different areas after they have returned home. These men and women have gone through so much to protect our freedom. We can not forget about them!! All of my proceeds from Military Hero will be going to The Wounded Warrior Project. If you would like to help in some way, whether it be a monetary donation, volunteering or even sending a thank you to a wounded serviceman or woman, check out the information HERE!

Mh_day1_1

The stars in the Military Stars set coordinate with the smallest star in the Seeing Stars die collection. I stamped one fo the star images inside the die cut piece and added a button to the center before adhering it to my card. To create the letters for my card I used the Block Alphabet dies.

Mh_day1_2

'Welcome home' is from Military Hero.

Mh_day1_3

For this final card I used one of the larger stars in the Seeing Stars die collection and placed it underneath my 'thank you' star. I stamped a border of stars along the bottom using one of the smaller star images in the Military Stars set. The sentiment is from Military Hero.

That is all for me today. I hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared with you...thank you so much for taking the time to stop by. Nichole and Danielle are sharing projects with you today using Heart-2-Heart #5 and Dawn and Heather have projects for you using their new sets as well.

I'll have lots more for you tomorrow! Until then, have a wonderful Sunday!
