I'm sorry I have been MIA the past week++! I wish I could say it was due to the hustle and bustle of the holidays but unfortunately it wasn't. My sweet Grammie Bev, who has been battling cancer for the past 4 years, lost her fight early Friday morning. Her funeral service was held yesterday and it was just beautiful. Lots and lots of tears were shed but also lots of laughter! She was a wonderful, strong, loving, sweet, funny woman and will be missed more than words can say!! Love you lots, Grammie!
{my dad, grampie, me & grammie on my wedding day in 1993}
In my last post (which was last Monday) I think I mentioned hopping off the computer and getting all the kids presents wrapped while they were in school. Well, that is exactly what I had intended to do. I got all of their presents together (on the kitchen table) and then headed up to carry down the wrapping paper, boxes, bows etc. I loaded it all up in my arms and headed downstairs but didn't make it down gracefully! My right foot ended up slipping from under me and I went flying. Exactly like you see in the movies...foot slips, your body goes flying up in the air and you land HARD! I landed on the edge of the stairs right in the center of my back. First reaction, I was SO mad at myself! Instead of taking more than one trip upstairs to get all I needed to wrap I took the lazy way out and thought I could do it in one trip. I should mention that this isn't the first time I have done this. When we were living in military housing in TN I was carrying laundry downstairs (laundry room was on the first floor) and again thinking I could carry it all started my descent down the stairs. I took two steps and then went flying and this time landed on my right butt cheek. The stairs were hard wood, not carpet! I had a wicked bruise on my butt for the longest time. OK- so I definitely should have learned my lesson by now. NO MORE lazy man loads!! So needless to say my back has been very, very sore! I did go to the doctors finally last Friday(after much convincing from my family) and had it checked. All was ok...the dr thinks I just bruised it pretty badly. I didn't get the wrapping done that day and still haven't. R is planning on taking the kiddos to the movies today so I can get it done!
We've already had our Christmas parties so the rest of the Christmas season will be spent quietly at home. Our parents will be coming over tomorrow for an early dinner and then we'll have Christmas brunch after the kids have opened their gifts Christmas morning. Other than that it's going to be relatively quiet, which I like. Looking forward to spending time with my kids while they are on vacation!
If I don't get the chance to hop back on here before Christmas arrives I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your families, hug them and tell them how very much you love them! It's never too late to show them how much you care! And if you could say a little prayer for my grandfather....that he can find peace during this difficult time, especially during this holiday season! Thank you!
Happy Holidays, my friends!!!
((((HUGS))))

So sorry to hear about your loss.
Hope you feel better soon, I fell the stairs when I was 16 and I was not as lucky as you. I broke my coccix (sp?) and I spent a lot of time in rehabilitation.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas.
God bless
Giovana

So sorry to hear about your Grammie, especially at this time of year. I've done that fall down the stairs too, and it's no fun. This year my trick was to lose my balance in the attic and have my foot come down in the 4" space where there was no flooring. Yep, through the Sheetrock ceiling in my two story foyer. Three days before a dinner party for 6....Luckily I was able to get the ceiling all repaired the same day, but I'm still bruised - so I truly feel your pain!! Take care of yourself. Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration! Happy Holidays!

So sorry to hear of the loss of your "Grammie" but it sounds like you have many fond memories of her. That is so important. The best to you and your family during this Christmas season. I will say a prayer for your Grandfather during his time of grief.

Oh Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words to help ease the pain. Hold on to all those glorious memories. I believe in angels and know Grammie is watching over you and your family now.
And thank goodness you didn't break something when you fell. We've all done what you've done (some of us learn from the experience... And some of us don't - I fall in the second category!)
Have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!

So sorry to hear about your Grammie's passing. I'm thinking about you, your family, and especially your grandfather. May he find comfort and peace.
Glad you weren't more seriously injured in that fall. Take it easy, girl!

I hope the memories you share bring you comfort during this difficult time! My thoughts are with you as I, too, lost my grandma earlier this year! I hope you have a quick recovery! I am FAMOUS for my falls down and UP the stairs! I sprained an ankle once and damaged my sciatica. My mom gave me the best advise and knock on wood, it really works! I have stairs in my home and I count them everytime I do up or down! If you count the steps as you make them your mind concentrates on the task at hand! Hope you feel better soon!
Cheers!
Q!
PS Merry Christmas!
