Rubber Soul Festive Kitty

 

I'm going to be MIA for about a week and wanted to jump on and post a couple of new Rubber Soul cards before I completely lose my internet. I'll still be able to check my e-mail daily but will be unable to post anything new on my blog! BUT when I DO get internet back it will be DSL...no more dial-up! I am completely and totally thrilled about that!!!

I pulled out some of my new Christmas Rubber Soul stamps today and made a couple of cards. If you haven't checked out their website lately be sure to go and take a peek. It has been updated and you are now able to purchase items directly from the website. So easy! The card above is made using Festive Kitty. I just adore her! I stamped her onto an oval Nestability using Noir black Palette ink. I then colored her hat and the stripes in her scarf using Copic marker R29. The snowflake pattern is stamped using the Winter Flake Trio stamp onto black cardstock using New Canvas ink. Good Tidings is stamped onto a tag I made using Cuttlebug's tiny tag die set.

 

At the end I added a little liquid applique to her hat and heat set it to give it a little poof!

 

For this card I used the new Poinsettia stamp. I stamped that onto a circle Nestability and then colored it in using Copic markers R29, G99 & N3. I stamped Polka Dot basics onto Aqua Mist cardstock using Pure Poppy ink and then adhered that to Stampers Select and then machine stitched around the border. I added my ribbon, tied my Foofala button on and stamped lastly stamped my Peace. I love how this turned out and will be using this color combo again, for sure.

Merry & Bright Additions #1

I'm sorry for the delay in posting my final project. We had a bit of a scare here yesterday and I didn't get the chance to post last night before I went to bed . My Gram was taken to the hospital early yesterday morning for what they thought was a stroke. After several tests and a night of observation we were told it wasn't a stroke (Thank God) and that she suffered from short term memory loss and confusion. There is a name for it but forget what exactly it is. From what I understand it is quite common. She just all of a sudden was disoriented and couldn't figure out where she was, what she was doing there or what year it was. Thankfully after about 12 hours or so she was back to her self. I just spoke with her on the phone and she sounds so much better today.

Here we are for the final day of peeks for Papertrey Ink's October release. I hope you've all enjoyed the projects using the new Merry & Bright Additions. Don't forget to stop by the PTI forum for the release party starting at 10PM EST. And the release itself starts at 12AM EST!

Onto today's card.....

  

I cut a piece of cardstock to measure 2.4 X 4.5. I then stamped my tree image in the top center using Spring Moss ink. I then stamped a separate tree onto another piece of cardstock. I then scored that tree directly down the center.

  
 

I then matted my first tree using Pure Poppy. The second tree I gently folded where I had scored it and then cut it out. I added glue dots to the back side and then placed it over top the first tree.

 

 

And this is the result!

Merry & Bright Additions #2

 

One of the things I love most about the Holidays is the smell. Freshly baked cookies, fresh fallen snow, a freshly cut Christmas tree....the list goes on. Another smell I enjoy a lot is candles. I love to burn candles in my house, especially during the holidays. My favorite ones are Yankee candles. They smell sooo good and last forever. Apple, Spiced Pumpkin and Home Sweet Home are at the top of my list of favorites! I burn tea lights a lot also and had these apple ones in my cupboard and thought I'd use those for a little gift. A lot of my friends and family are just as much candle lovers as I am so this would be just a cute little something to say I'm thinking of them! To make it even nicer you could purchase a little tart burner to give along with it.

This is a 5X7 card. I stamped my trees using Pure Poppy, Chartreuse and Toile Pink. I did a
little stitching with my sewing machine ( I finally dug it out of storage and am SOOO happy I did...I missed it ) around the edges. I added a strip of Pure Poppy with a bow and button along the side. For the little tea lights, I simply took another strip of Pure Poppy ribbon and tied it around and attached a tag. The 'Warm Winter Wishes' is from Merry & Bright and so are the stars atop the trees.  

I know you have all heard the newest PTI news! Lauren Meader is joining PTI with 'My Timeless Templates'. She is truly amazing....I'm so excited to see all she has in store for us!

Merry & Bright Additions #3

We're half way there! Only 2 more days until you will see all the new releases in full. You certainly won't be disappointed, I'm sure! Here are a few little tidbits of info about the new Merry & Bright Additions set....

• There are 5 trees total. Each with 3 separate pieces...top, middle and bottom. This set along with the first Merry & Bright set allow for numerous mixing and design ideas. I actually tried to sit and figure out exactly how many but to be honest I gave up. LOL! I just know it's A LOT!
• Including the trees above the total number of images in this set is 22.
• You can find the set at the Papertrey Ink website starting at 12AM EST on the 14th. It will sell for $15.

You will notice on todays card that the tree is stamped with 3 of the different designs offered in the set. I wanted to use a different color palette for my Christmas card instead of your traditional red and green and enlisted the help of my sweet daughter! I asked her to choose for me and she looked in my cardstock and chose Aqua Mist and Berry Sorbet (two of my favorite PTI colors)!! I started by embossing a strip of Aqua Mist using my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I adhered that to the front of my 5X5" card. I then used my circle Nestabilities...both classic and scalloped. I stamped my tree using Berry Sorbet in the center of my classic circle and then matted it over my Berry Sorbet scalloped circle. I stamped PEACE (included in the set) along side the tree using Noir Palette ink. I used the outlined star image, which is part of the original Merry & Bright set
for the top of my tree and then adhered a tiny rhiestone brad in the center of that. Lastly I attached my buttons!

Merry & Bright Additions #4

Welcome back for day two of the Merry & Bright Additions sneak peek! Starting the 15th this set will be availabel at the Papertrey Ink website. For todays project I wanted to create something a little different. Somehow, someway I had it in my mind to create a Christmas ornament and this is what I came up with!

   

I used Papertrey Ink's Night Sky Shimmer cardstock for this. I first started by stamping my first tree straight and then stamped two additional trees at an angle on either side of the first.

 

After completing step 1, I trimmed along the sides of the trees being sure to leave about a 1/4" extra on one side. Along the bottom I used my scalloped scissors and paper piercer to give it a more fancy, elegant look. You will notice the scor marks in the center of each tree and along the left side. You will want to do this and then gently fold at each scor mark so you will end up with

 

this!

 

Next, on the back side I took a strip of ribbon from Papertrey's silver ribbon collection and folded the top portion down to create a loop and adhered with a glue dot. Be sure to leave about 2.5" inches of ribbon below the loop. You will see why in a minute.

 

Attach glue dots the to 1/4" overlay.

 

Then fold and adhere together to create your 3 sided tree. At this point you will have the loop at the top and the leftover ribbon hanging out of the bottom.

 

To finish off the ornament I created a bow and attached it to the top. I also tied a silver bead to the bottom. I picked up a package of these in the jewelry section of my local craft store for less than $2. I also had some tiny silver beads that I attached to the center layer of each tree and also to the card. The patterned strip of cardstock I created for the card was made with a stamp I designed to coordinate with the tree image. I LOVE it when I can create a completely coordinating look and this set allows me to do just that!

Are you all ready!? I'm back with some new sneak peeks for this months Papertrey Ink release. Along with all the new releases from Nichole and Heather this month, I will be releasing an addition set to Merry & Bright! For just $15 you will have an additional 22 images to add to your original Merry & Bright set. So many possibilities!
 
I've been playing around a lot lately with 3.5 X 5 notecards and thought I would encorporate those into my first project. I love the pure simplicity of these and love to work with crisp, clean white cardstock when making them. I simply stamped the circular image included in the set along the left side of my notecard using Chartreuse Palette ink. I then stamped my tiny star that is part of the first Merry & Bright set into the center of each circle using Pure Poppy ink. The sentiment is actually from Holiday Wishes. I used a strip of scrap paper and placed it over the part of my card where I didn't want to wording from the sentiment (Peace & Happiness) to show and then stamped over top of it. I then used the JOY stamp in place of where it said Peace & Happiness. With a little ribbon, a bow and a matching tree stamped in the bottom corner it was complete. You can't get much more simple! And of course, I HAD to create a matching envelope!

I may even use these as my personal family Christmas cards this year. They would cost next to nothing to make and take no time at all mass producing. Plus, it would be so easy to attach a family photo to the back!!
